Kings land Smyth in trade with Avalanche
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Los Angeles Kings have acquired veteran left wing Ryan Smyth in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, the Kings announced on their website (http://kings.nhl.com) Friday. The Kings sent defensemen Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing and a 2010 draft pick in exchange for the 14-year player.

Nash gets huge deal from Blue Jackets
The Columbus Dispatch reports Nash's deal is worth a total of $62.4 million and is an annual salary cap hit of $7.8 million for the Blue Jackets. He'll earn $7 million for the upcoming season, the last year of his current contract. Nash will then make $7.5 million in 2010-11, according to the Dispatch, and the deal escalates until he makes $8.2 million in 2017-18. ...{more} |
